You may or may not have heard, but one of the most iconic performance venues that has hosted a number of incredible acts and shows over the last 12 years is currently facing a risk of permanent closure.
La Bohème on Grote Street has been synonymous with being one of the hottest spots in the Adelaide CBD that can satisfy your cabaret, music, comedy, and burlesque cravings, with its uniquely quirky space that delivers with great company, delicious food, mouthwatering drinks, and a generally awesome area to catch up with friends after work.
However, with the recent closure of Her Majesty’s Theatre, the ongoing construction works around the area, and general decline in foot traffic, La Bohème is now on its final legs to keep up with the rising costs of rent and other financial challenges, with not as much income to support it all.
To support La Bohème to make it through their deadline of March 18 and avoiding permanent closure, a number of Adelaide Fringe artists will be coming together to put on a Fringe variety show for the best cause possible. If you haven’t been to the Adelaide Fringe yet, it finishes up next weekend, so if you are looking for a show that ticks the boxes around comedy, burlesque, cabaret, singing, magic, and so much more, make sure you make your way to the Loose Change Cabaret on March 13 from 7:40pm onwards for a show that will have the talents of Tash York (host), Anya Anastasia, Laurie Black, Alfie Ordinary, Frankly, Jennifer Kingwell, Zach Watson, Kevin Quantum, Ambrosious Lee and so many more.
The beer garden will also be pouring some delicious drops before and after the show, and alongside that, The Studio will also be offering free face painting and glitter for those who’d really like to get immersed into the festive spirit!
Come on down and support one of Adelaide’s gems and let’s save La Bohème from closing down!
