Just because we are heading to the cooler seasons does not mean that beach visits should be a thing of the past! Layering up and snuggling into your comfiest jumpers, you can still enjoy the stunning waterfront views offered by the Marina Pier in Glenelg (City of Holdfast Bay) and wine and dine at the restaurants that are exploding with some of the best of what South Australian cuisine has on offer!
One such place that is a personal favourite of mine is The Oyster Bar. Offering indoor and outdoor dining spaces that are well-equipped with winter-warming goodness and simultaneously offers a relaxing seaside dining experience, The Oyster Bar has a variety of oysters available on their menu, each of which boast of a juicy yet firm texture and are basically an oyster lover’s idea of heaven.
In addition to staying true to their name, there are a ton of other seafood options available on the menu, such as fresh prawns, salt and pepper squid, and shrimp – all of which are served with a side of lemon wedges and sauce that may not be necessary, but certainly adds to the tantalizing flavours offered by their respective meats.
Want to visit the Oyster Bar but don’t want to indulge in the seafood? Well, you’re in luck, because there are loads of options on their menu that are seafood-free!

The one on the left is the chorizo plate that is packed with juicy and perfectly charred meats that are complemented with pieces of mozzarella, haloumi, olives, arancini balls, and lemon wedges.
The one on the right is the housemade dips + cheese plate, which offers a generous serving of pita bread, slices of bread, beetroot dip, hummus dip, and olive oil.
There are also bite-sized delicacies of crispy bread that were served with sliced / chopped olives topped with crumbled feta and the cherry tomatoes topped with fresh parsley leaves – a great appetizer to enjoy, while you wait for the bigger meals to come out!
If you’re looking to spruce up your oyster (and / or non-oyster) feast, why not pair the juicy morsels with a glass of red wine by locally produced and family-owned Hugo Wines? Best enjoyed in the sunshine with a side of sea-breeze freshness.

- Killa Thursdays – customers can enjoy $2 Kilpatrick oysters from 5pm – 8pm ($12 for 6 oysters, $24 for 12 oysters).
- Oyster Hour (Fridays) – Celebrating the discounted oysters that are a part of Oyster Day (Wednesdays) from 5pm – 7pm on Friday, along with Happy Hour prices on tap beer and house wines.
